@andrewdessler Imho we also need to figure out how to make as many people as possible in no need of a car. Difficult to impossible in the US and not easy outside of densely populated areas in Europe but it would make the transition easier and smoother.
@andrewdessler Replacing all ICE by EV will also take one or two decades I would argue. Car replacement cycle. Power grid strengthening. But agreed: we must concurrently do both. It is a matter of social equity too to give people who can’t do without a car a clean alternative with EV’s.
@ljbo That's a great point and I agree 100%. However, that is I think primarily a multi-decadal problem of rebuilding infrastructure. In the meantime, we need to live with the infrastructure we already have.
