I'm looking for someone with experience corresponding with US prison inmates.

I'm in such a correspondence. I know that prison staffers read all his messages and mine, and sometimes censor them. I'm looking for advice on what I can ask and say in my messages without getting him in trouble.

If you don't want your advice to be public, please DM me or send me an email at <peter.suber [at] gmail.com>. Thanks.

Full house for this evening’s local history society lecture about the rack-and-pinion railway that ran between Aix-les-Bains and Mont Revard from 1892-1937 fr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemin

I wrote it at the weekend as a personal act of catharsis, but my thoughts on pain seem to have been appreciated by a broader audience, so I am reposting. eve.gd/2023/05/07/on-pain-and-

The fall of British cultural influence can be seen by how millions of tech people across the globe think the word 'git' is unproblematic.

We have a sneak preview of a new endpoint that will let you know all the relationships @crossref knows that link to an item, person, or organisation. We need feedback on this to get it from concept to useful community.crossref.org/t/relat. Plus, I reckon there are a bunch of uses for it that aren't on our radar yet, and I want to hear about them.
