When I moved in the first thing I needed at home was functioning Internet, so I decided to just run a long-ass ethernet cable through the entire hallway to see if everything's working. Of course, once that was established I would properly install the cable.

Three years later and I'm still yelling "careful, that cable!" whenever I have visitors.

@fribbledom I solve that by using Ethernet over Powerline (or what some people call "dirty networking"). It's a very underrated solution to the problem that's cheap and easy to implement.
