Welcome to the age of AIs censoring art. Some algorithm on one of the Mastodon servers thinks this Georgia O'Keeffe painting is a vagina and is blurring it out. Unsure whether to laugh or cry. But somehow I suspect Georgia would have been mischievously pleased.

@mariapopova @rachelmetz before this goes totally viral can we just say that there is no AI algorithm on Mastodon, that I don’t think human instance moderators have the power to do this either, and it is likely just the server being slow?

@Chanders @rachelmetz @mariapopova What would be stopping any server from using AI to mark as sensitive media that it determines to be (likely to be) explicit? Isn't each server responsible for it's own moderation—and therefore has the freedom to use AI if it so chooses? I've seen lots of media marked as sensitive, which wasn't (it's only blurry until you click on it, depending on your account settings).
