Nitpickers who know a lot about specific things chipping away at (and not seeing) a holistic argument.

@TechConnectify sometimes this is just people who can't see the forest for the cell towers, other times it's hostile action.

I have trouble telling the difference.

Sometimes a specific tree really is important but sometimes it's not. Sometimes the person who is wrong about whether the tree is important (either way) is mistaken and sometimes it's an intentional.

Any heuristic for trying to filter between those cases is going to be faulty some of the time, and very prone to confirmation bias.

The best we can do is try to be aware of all that as we apply and revise our heuristics.

@smithkm @TechConnectify I've been known to block people who I thought were innocently wrong just because I didn't have the energy to deal with their particular brand of wrong that day.

I'm *quite* sure others have done the same with me, though I hope it's been happening less frequently as I gain seconds
