Here's a feature request I just posted on the Rust Cargo tool. Because programming communities are A Particular Way, the post is 1/3 explaining my feature request and why I want it, and 2/3 defensive text going over every single elaborate workaround for the lack of the feature that I anticipate someone might hypothetically reply with (plus rigorous assurances for each one that I already tried it and have counter-arguments as to why it is not sufficient).
I have been struggling with The Thing Provoking The Feature Request for *two months* and I am terrified that the incredible frustration I am consequently feeling about this matter leaked into my post text and will cause the intended readers to reject it out of hand because of "tone". Oh well!
