@detondev ah, hi. so, it’s a reference to old television technology that leveraged a picture tube to display the video rather than the flat panels we use now. so "tube" became slang for "television" as in "I’m bored, let’s see what’s on the tube tonight."

@djsundog @detondev old TVs: they were cathode ray tubes, pictures made by the beam of electrons scanning across the screen from behind, guided by magnets on either side of the tube. My friend took his TV apart and switched the magnets to the opposite sides so his TV picture was reversed.
