@taylorlorenz I would strongly recommend Akkoma or Pleroma for this. I'm planning to start an Akkoma instance myself.
If anyone wants to try to start a journalist centered Akkoma/Pleroma/Misskey/etc server, I'm laying that idea out in the open here.
Spoke with Stella Assange today about how Trump Extorted Julian Assange. Kim Dot Com chimes in to talk admit how he and Hannity worked together to try and get Assange a Pardon:

To be sure, I don't like Elon Musk either.
But his problem isn't that he's autistic. It's that he's an asshole.
Just so you also know: autistic people have largely been early adopters of the Fediverse -- we came here because Big Social could no longer be a space for us.

The probability of below freezing temperatures by Saturday morning is high everywhere but the western U.S.
@Lee_in_Iowa It depends on which server you are on and other factors, but rate-limiting is generally done (not just on Mastodon, but on Internet protocols in general) to prevent denial-of-service attacks.
Doesn't mean you were doing anything wrong, by the way. It's just that if there were no limit, someone with a script could bring down servers by simply flooding them with bogus requests.
It's possible you might want to talk with your server admin about whether they have this set too low.
#Astronomy is threatened: three quarters of major observatories affected by light pollution.
Light is polluting the #sky above most observatories and that immediate action is needed to decrease the amount of contamination coming from artificial light.

@lowqualityfacts LOL.
While cleaning up the Lastpass mess, I discovered that, at some point, Lastpass dumped a plaintext config into the unprotected note field for all Wi-Fi Password entries.
This means that all these Wi-Fi passwords were exposed in this breach - no master password bruteforcing necessary. Has anyone else seen this behavior with Wi-Fi Password entries in Lastpass? Perhaps this is just a weird thing that only happened to me?
BLOG POST: Why the Fediverse is Revolutionary https://blog.atomicpoet.org/s/vOcINMxQd#
An explanation for what the Fediverse is, and why it's the biggest communications revolution in a generation.
This is the blog version of a thread that I made a month ago. I've compiled it into one long form article.
Sad juxtaposition in my timeline.
A post about survivors of Mariupol right next to one about survivors of Auschwitz. Both about the struggle to live under inhumane conditions.

The biggest threat to democracy is not just Trump, but a Republican Party obstructing all attempts to hold anyone accountable, remaining fully committed to the quest of installing authoritarian rule by a reactionary minority. Did the Committee make that clear enough? 5/

We’ll never know for sure because it’s impossible to track the authoritarian takeovers that don’t happen, but there’s a decent chance this just became one of the most important pieces of legislation in the last half century https://twitter.com/ericliptonnyt/status/1606371014568443904

@ubergeek I'm out 90-some miles east of you and it's windy af here as well.
I swear to God, journalists have become so swept up in so-called "Web3" hype, that they're seeing blockchain where there is none.
To the people in the back: the Fediverse has nothing to do with cryptocurrency, tokens, coins, etc.
Mathematics Ph.D. Likes hanging out with almost everyone regardless of political views or anything else.
