For #RomanFortThursday let’s go to Qasr Bashir, #Jordan, located 15km northwest of Lejjun. An inscription dates the construction of the Castra Praetorium Mobeni to AD 293-305. It was occupied throughout the 4th and into the 5th century. Umayyad pottery indicates re-occupation in the 7th century. Qasr Bashir is considered the best-preserved #Roman fort in the Middle East. The 1.5m thick walls still stand several metres high.

This week in #LabProtocols: microwave-assisted extractions (MAE). We will use this for our total lipid extractions from archaeological and geological samples. I’ve always used similar equipment to MAE, like ASE/PSE or Soxhlet, so I’m excited to get to know this system and train students in biomarker analysis. #archaeology #biomarkers #science

Just to put the word out for folks: the new Mastodon 4.1 update allows you to add alt text to images you've already posted. It has been frustrating up until now to be unable to fix mistakes.

So if you made an image post and forgot to add the alt text, you can now go back and fix that, which is, as we all know, the right and upstanding thing to do. Spread the word. #AltText
