It's not just IzzyOnDroid that is threatened by #Google's upcoming "developer verification" rules – it's ALL OF YOU, ALL OF US, who live in the free #Android world, and want to decide ourselves what gets installed onto our devices.
If Google gets away with this, on the majority of Android devices, you will only be able to install what THEY allow. No more freedom of choice.
Join the resistance! Act for your freedom!
Google announced that as of September 2026, it will no longer be possible to develop apps for the Android platform without first registering centrally with Google. This registration will involve:
- Paying a fee to Google
- Agreeing to Google’s Terms and Conditions
- Providing government identification
- Uploading evidence of the developer’s private signing key
- Listing all current and future application identifiers
They finally did it. Microsoft has successfully over-engineered a text editor into a threat vector.
This CVE is an 8.8 severity RCE in Notepad of all things lmao.
Apparently, the "innovation" of adding markdown support came with the ability of launching unverified protocols that load and execute remote files.
We have reached a point where the simple act of opening a .md file in a native utility can compromise your system. Is nothing safe anymore? 😭

The science is unimpeachable: human-made art makes you laugh, laughter releases endorphins, endorphins are basically tiny maintenance workers repairing your insides, and boom: you’ve just extended your warranty.
And unlike intermittent fasting, we’re offering you a path to longevity that involves more laughter, not less food.
Becoming a patron isn’t just supporting an artist. It’s an investment in your own continued existence. Your move, mortal.
All in all modern CPUs are beasts of tremendous complexity and bugs have become inevitable. I wish the industry would be spending more resources addressing them, improving design and testing before CPUs ship to users, but alas most of the tech sector seems more keen on playing with unreliable statistical toys rather than ensuring that the hardware users pay good money for works correctly. 31/31
For the last decade, the #EU has been funding #Mastodon #KDE #Phosh #Nextcloud #OnlyOffice #PixelFed, #Libreoffice, #CryptPad, #Kdenlive, #Lemmy and many other Open Source projects you know and love through its #NextGenerationInternet programme.
But now that programme is ending and they are thinking about its successor.
They want to hear from you on what it should look like: Share your feedback to make sure the Commission keep funding amazing Open Source projects!

@vicgrinberg your style is really nice 🤩
@stefano I wonder why Lorawan is not used more often for this kind of monitoring?
The infra (gateways) is low-cost and low-power (run on solar or bats for days), plus some spatial redundancy can make jamming nearly impossible. Sensor can run autonomously for years and are suitable to check temp, leaks, power cuts and doors.
AFAIK some nuclear industries find it suitable in situations where one don't needs tons of data but having some data reliably is important and the usual control system is damaged.
