As an LGBTQ-friendly household, and having LGBTQ youth in the family... #KOSA sounds like a really darn good idea. There's a heck of a lot of abuse against our kids that isn't being dealt with, and the objection to a "duty of care" feels like the usual "oppose anything that holds tech companies responsible for their actions" drama we're used to every time it comes up.
Reading the text, I absolutely understand why a lot of lobbyists are likely receiving big money to oppose it.

We can't keep legislating based on "what if companies overreact to this law?" as an excuse to give them a free pass to do whatever they want. It gives them even stronger incentive to overreact: To push us to repeal laws that introduce corporate responsibility.
We have to be able to take them to court when they make decisions (yes, even about user-uploaded content) which put profit over childrens' safety.

@ocdtrekkie It is probably best to not allow use of YouTube unsupervised (back in the day, we had a similar rule for cable TV. Network TV required the rule less because FCC poiicies generally kept what was broadly considered unacceptable off-air).

@mtomczak YouTube is only one example, but the challenge is even when we trust our kids to look for and watch acceptable content, unacceptable content can be injected in.
Another example is modern online games like Roblox, which combine being extremely popular with young children... with both social interaction with other people and microtransactions.
Not sure if you've parented in the world of Roblox, but try being the only parents to tell your kid they can't play it.
