health/diet

in light of my insulin resistance issue, I have been eating differently since I got back from my trip and actually went on a damn walk this morning

the issue now is that I don't really know what to eat. I'm getting some meals delivered on Wednesday that should help, but right now I'm in a weird purgatory where I want to just order in but I don't want to get my usual unhealthy meals

maybe someday soon I'll magically have motivation to cook again

health/diet

goddammit I rely so heavily on carbs for my food that this is really a huge pain in the ass

thinking I should just start walking twice a day and see if that magically helps. that is basically what I did before, after all

@joe_no_body Totally anecdotal, everyone's-metabolism-is-different comment:

Walking really helps me. It both burns calories and makes it easier to regulate my appetite because I am less hungry and more thirsty after a walk.

The way that I got over the rut of having to do exercise is I stopped thinking about it as exercise and started thinking about it as giving the neighborhood an opportunity to give me an adventure. When I'm out on a walk I see neat things happening. One time I followed a rabbit down a game trail just to see where it would go.

@mtomczak yeah, I used to commute to school and work walking 30+ minutes each way and I think it was amazing for my health. unfortunately WFH finally got rid of that excuse to walk

funnily enough, the best way I've found to get myself to walk is basically the inverse. if I treat it as a chore that I just have to deal with, I can treat it as a quasi-masochistic ordeal and make myself do it. then once I get into it, I start noticing the adventure part and that makes it more enjoyable
