Wow, _Videodrome_ was more or less on-brand and within expectations, though I had no idea until the opening credits rolled that Deborah Harry was in it!

Great stuff, but I'm always mystified by how Cronenberg envisions technology.

@jasonp I've read some interesting interpretations of his take on the technology in that movie. Mostly around the idea that the organic style is meant to represent that they're probably just on drugs.

@mtomczak drug hallucination is always a possibility with Cronenberg, sure.

Still, look at Crimes of the Future and we see a pretty similar vision.

It makes me think of The Three-Body Problem where the author has real Opinions about what 500 or 5000 years should mean for technological progress.

Seems to me that Cronenberg might be trying to avoid having his fictional gadgets be too relatable to keep the viewer off balance.
