New here? Remember that Twitter is optimized to make you into passive consumers, by en(r/g)aging you with content that you don't choose yourself.

Here, that doesn't happen. But it also means you're responsible to find people to follow.

It will take some work.

If you're willing to put that in, you'll find a wide variety of friendly people that will be happy to have meaningful conversions and laugh and cry together with you.

Start by searching and looking at who other people follow.

@thomasfuchs @sozialwelten Is there a way to search for hashtags on other servers then my own? My server has not so many accounts.

@pschwede I would also be interested in how the hashtag search specifically works since I do get results not only from my own instance. Are these from accounts which I follow only? How do the instances interact with each other and how do they give each other access to their information? @mundauf @thomasfuchs

@pschwede @mundauf Nope. While searching for #science I just found an account from which I did not follow yet. Has to have to do with instance #interaction. Some sort of #Mastodon #Voodoo I assume. @thomasfuchs

@mundauf I there is not. There is a “group” service you can try: search for @<tag> – if you mention them in your toot, your post will be see by everybody following them. I use “birds” and “plants” for example but there are others, too. Or just start using one until people pick it up. 😄
