I don’t understand why people think Mastodon is difficult. It seems pretty straightforward, and the separate servers are no biggie. I’m enjoying this fresh start here, like moving to a new apartment!

@georgetakei I suspect people want the list of followers from twitter with matching accounts on Mastodon. Since they can be on lots of different machines, there isn't a 1-to-1 mapping for that. Makes writing a porting tool hard.

That's why I initially walked away from Mastodon when the twitter mess started. But I'm back.

YMMV (you mileage may vary or whatever they say now in UK)

@mvilain @georgetakei twitodon.com is a tool for doing that matching, it is a central place to do that 1:1 for your accounts, and when others use the tool and they follow your bird app, they can find you. 👍

@Paulie @georgetakei
I haven't been able to get that site to work. It doesn't recognize my Twitter login credentials.

fedifinder.glitch.me/

worked for me instead.

@mvilain That would be on the twitter side; try a new private window and see if that works.

@Paulie Was able to login to Twitter via a private window and to my Mastodon host but the site didn't find any mastodon accounts mapped to my followers.

fedifinder.glitch.me/

didn't have that problem. It found many hits.

@mvilain Yeah, twitodon only maps people who used twitodon, so coming back to it in a week or so may get some matches. The fedifinder requires people put their mastodon address in their profile, which a couple weeks ago wasn't as common, so you're probably good to go at this point. Run fedifinder every week or so until you have enough follows to make things lively. 😃
