I think Krugman makes some really good observations here related to the level of federal investment in rural America, but I still think that both he and Edsall are missing the extent to which rural resentment is shaped as much by a loss of status as by declining economies.
@natharari @jbouie I’d be happy either way — but I think it’s been made more than adequately clear that rural whites are not, as a political bloc, open to coalition or compromise.
