"If I were seeking advancement from people I didn’t agree with, it would have been far easier to become a Trumpist and reap the rewards." The WSJ editorial page looks like it can't imagine any motivation for anything other than partisan positioning. thebulwark.com/the-wall-street

#Russia insisted that #USSR/#Soviet Bloc membership was voluntary, when it was coerced. Russia now implies/claims NATO/EU membership is coerced, when it's voluntary. Ru's manipulation isn't surprising. But Westerners who should be able to see NATO/EU's voluntary nature first-hand and who know very little about the USSR/Soviet Bloc falling for and spreading Ru's claim are exasperating.

“With #dungeonsAndDragons you can inhabit a body, a backstory, a history, a story, a struggle, a desire, a pain, a lust, and a character that is not you and also is you simultaneously.”

@tanepiper It's much better than mine, but mine was just a quick little experiment. You seem to have developed a whole module, essentially. I love it.

@natharari That’s right. Sent a prompt from an org buffer asking for a table and the output is inserted inline.

It’s in the latest builds but a little hidden since it’s not all carved out just yet. Invoke C-u chatgpt-shell-prompt and instead of focusing the shell for output, it’s inserted in current buffer.

@xenodium
Amazing. I'll have to try it at some point. I'll look to see when it's fully released, though I do see it in my commands now as I just updated my packages.

@ctietze @xenodium I've been using it on occasion to generate e-lisp for my emacs config. I had a few hiccups but I refine the question and try again and it gets it right. It's amazing what it can do.

Also, I had it write out a funny D&D adventure last night which I posted on my blog with the backstory. 😀

@yisraeldov Well, he's never actually been a very telegenic sort of person. He's always been a bit of an autistic recluse, so that may be part of it. But again: If you have examples, I'm definitely willing to hear you out.

@xenodium I'm not sure I understand what is going on in that capture. It looks interesting but I'm probably missing the specifics because the mode-line interface is just going too quickly. Is it letting ChatGPT somehow create stuff directly in emacs and control your normal org-mode buffer?

@yisraeldov Okay, that definitely makes sense and I agree with you there. But I don't see what they're trying to do as bad in any way. I think it's extremely helpful. They're doing things like trying to eradicate Malaria in Africa, or provide treatments to various countries which would be unaffordable otherwise. They're trying to help with research for better crop yields. Their foundation is committed to Open Access en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open-acc for data and research.

I honestly fail to see how this is evil in any way. And since it's open access, you can see everything that they are doing and funding yourself. If you do have some examples of evil and underhanded actions, I am definitely interested in hearing about it.

BTW, I don't like Microsoft either so I'm definitely not a fanboy who uses Windows and who just trying to defend Bill Gates. 😀
