There is now a mirror of the website at bio3d-mirror.nexperion.net/Ser located in Europe to protect against unavailability of bio3d and possible Internet outages. The mirror is max. 2h behind the master copy.

A large research institute in DE just informed me that soon, they will only accept invoices via an electronic portal, because "the digitalization drive continues". Information was sent in a PDF. Printed. And scanned (without signatures). Links need to be typed out manually.

I think the term "needle in a haystack" frequently used to describe the difficulties localising a structure in TEM has become obsolete. "Tiny radioactive capsule in Australia" just sounds way cooler.

basic mode files allow to reduce the complexity of the user interface a lot. Here is a new way to generate basic mode files tailored to your system & usage of SerialEM: nexperion.net/basicmodefile Currently undergoing testing, feedback welcome!

Happy Holidays from us to everyone!🎄 This very tiny snowman was created by Jana from our electron microscopy facility. It is made of recycled TEM copper mesh grids, which are slides for electron microscopy. They have a diameter of 3.05 millimeters and consist of 100 little squares called "meshes." Jana cut all the little parts out of some grids, put the parts together, and mounted it on a glass slide. The picture was taken with a light microscope. #mpicbg #merrychristmas #snowman

Last installation of in 2022 complete. On both very old and very new systems, this software never ceases to amaze me 🤩

I've been using this #tool for years, but I think more people should know about it.

It makes it easy to find a #LaTeX symbol in a few seconds!

All earthquakes visualized not just on the surface, but _inside_ the globe. And you can rotate it. It's interactive. And absolutely mind-blowing (for a non-specialist), entirely unintuitive! Those plumes!!

I have a new vacancy in my team for cryoEM scientist interested in developing cryoFIB milling approaches and cellular cryoET. As always, we will be pushing the boundaries with cryoET #teamtomo. Position is based at Oxford, UK. Please help spread the word. jobs.thermofisher.com/i/global

users, would it be worth setting up a bot that announces availability of SerialEM updates here?

(Essentially, that would clone the functionality of nexperion.net/serialemupdateno for another channel.)
