The is heartening and harrowing at the same time. Despite seemingly a strong appetite for it, in around 50% of English acute trusts turnout was insufficiently high to secure a mandate for industrial action.

They’re already incapable of standing united for themselves and their patients simply because of apathy. The Gov know therefore that it won’t take much pushback to break their will.

@nickopotamus Basically, no. (From a viewpoint rooted in experience of post-Burnham teaching unions.) There are deep problems, conflicted feelings - and eventually there can be reconciliation as the problems are addressed (tho' not completely solved).
Any govt push that doesn't address the deep problems isn't going anywhere.

Health workers must build #RankAndFileCommittees to lead the fight against #privatisation and #SaveTheNHS. All workers must combine to support #Nurses and #Doctors in struggle. It cannot be left to bureaucrats in the trades unions.
