Hi QOTO et al, I'm Jason! Here is an #introduction.
If this sort if thing matters to you, I hold degrees in #literature (BA) and a electrical #engineering (MS). I work in commercial software quality/test, but for years developed and supported SW and HW for embedded systems. I like control theory and signal processing of all kinds, low-level/real-time code, and modeling & simulation. I also like complexity theory, cybernetic ideas, linguistic and social sciences, ecology, the list goes on.
I speak OK French, and have been teaching myself Arabic (MSA) for the past couple years... sa3idu biliqa'ika!
I love #music, including "world" and folk traditions (I play the Irish kind on flute and concertina) and a lot of much weirder experimental, electronic, and noisy genres. There's not much I don't enjoy listening to.
Amateur #radio, too, though not as much of that since gradschool. Pretty big fan of Thomas Pynchon's novels. Enjoy film photography, occasional watercolor/drawing. Lately I'm learning to build synthesizer circuits and code my own audio DSP.
I live in Eastern Massachusetts with my partner and our three kids. We moved here last year after 12+ years in Huntsville, Alabama, but I'm originally from New York. Only scratching the surface here, but I've been meaning to post a thing or two on this here elephant for a long time, and it seems like as good a time as any! Feel free to say hi.
