Almost two weeks ago I posted few photos of broken dead server motherboard with Elbrus CPUs here: https://suya.place/notice/AXM42m5imbeLOhbEfI

So with the big help of @axxieflex, we went and bought it. As was expected, the board and the chassis are in absolutely worst state.

He also contacted some people at MCST to get a diagnosis and possible repair, and they agreed to help. Today I went to their office and left the board for them. The best outcome I'm hoping for is that some of the CPUs are alive and working. South bridge IC is probably dead, but I still hope they would be able to re-ball it. If that's true, survived chips could be installed on a new motherboard, and finally we will get a working machine for reverse-engineering purposes.

In the end, I want this machine to be connected to some kind of KVM and JTAG debuggers and available for enthusiasts to test their bootloaders, kernel and custom drivers on it, remotely.

So here comes the e-begging part. The repair would still probably cost around 100k rubles or more (which is anyway cheaper than a new workstation board). We also need to get a new chassis, KVM, some video card, RAM sticks, disks, and other stuff. I think $2-2.5k is expected for now. You can help us with that.

P.S. You also can give me any ideas for a simplistic OpenE2K logo, that would be very appreciated. :)

Burns: Well, everybody knows, ‘war is hell`

Hawkeye: War isn’t Hell. War is war, and Hell is Hell. And of the two, war is a lot worse.

Father Mulcahy: How do you figure that, Hawkeye?

Hawkeye: Easy, Father. Tell me, who goes to Hell?

Father Mulcahy: Um, sinners, I believe.

Hawkeye: Exactly. There are no innocent bystanders in Hell, but war is chock full of them – little kids, cripples, old ladies. In fact, except for a few of the brass, almost everybody involved is an innocent bystander.

This is one reason why Google recently started using "google.com/maps" for its "Google Maps." Users will gladly give Google Maps access to their location. After all, the map needs to know where you are to give directions. But by using "google.com/maps" instead of "maps.google.com," all "google.com" properties now have access to the user's location after the user gave access to the location on google.com/maps.

My heartfelt thanks to all of you who use AltText to add descriptions to your pics and media. As someone who used to be able to see but has been blind for over 30 years now, it allows me to see the pic in my mind and is greatly appreciated and allows me to enjoy them.

Another heartfelt thanks to those who use #CamelCase in their hashtags. This makes it so much easier to understand with a screen reader and for those who read print as well! ❤️

irregular remainder that you can always tip your favorite Open Source developer or maintainer.

And if you know that your workplace doesn't pay for any Open Source software, you can also suggest tipping a bit. Maybe frame it like "how much work didn't we had to do, or how much did we save on software licenses, maybe we should give away 1% of that amount".

Please do it, every bit helps.

"If someone steals a CD containing a version of a GPL-covered program, does the GPL give the thief the right to redistribute that version?" The answer is somewhat complicated. Read the full answer at u.fsf.org/3kv #GNUGPLFAQ

Did you ever want to replace your bash or Python script with a one file Rust script?

You can now do it with an official cargo script on nightly Rust!

`chmod +x example1.rs && ./example.rs`

This is a replacement for 3rd party cargo subcommands such as cargo-script, rust-script, and cargo-play.

Huge thank you to @epage for designing and implementing it!
