Twitanic sinklng ever faster (yet more insanity)
Sigh ... "Twitter just alerted employees that effective immediately, all office buildings are temporarily closed and badge access is suspended. No details given as to why": https://twitter.com/ZoeSchiffer/status/1593391604785504257
It looks like another surge of twitter users might be on the way... One user just mentioned some drama over at twitter with musk locking out employees. I looked at the users bot (see attached quote) and youll notice a distinctive spike starting to form off to the right... here we go
I know we're watching the Titanic sink from the lifeboats here, but if Twitter really does go away it's going to seriously screw a lot of people. All those small businesses using it to communicate with and advertise to customers, people using it to connect with friends and family... it's not gonna be pretty. :(
This will be a day for the pages of history. #Twitter
High intensity drama is coming.
New blog post: Using the Adafruit 1.47″ Curved SPI Display with a Raspberry Pi Pico and CircuitPython https://markmcgookin.com/2022/11/17/using-the-adafruit-1-47-curved-spi-display-with-a-raspberry-pi-pico-and-circuitpython/
In 1996 I participated in targeted consumer focus group for outdoors workers.
It was about cell phone features for their next generation of devices. Heavy handed with laughlingly biased leading questions. It was soon clear that they wanted us to encourage a Push to Talk feature be included. I agreed that PTT would be a cool, but I would like it to show GPS coordinates in display. My suggestion was weirdly & vigorously shut down. Allways wondered what happened & if their product went to market.
So from what I can gather:
"Home" is "posts I am likely to be interested in reading from people I actually follow".
"Local" is "posts that are mostly irrelevant to my interests, from people who just happen to be on the same server as me".
"Federated" is "rapidly updating stream of irrelevant garbage from everywhere that is updating too fast to read anyway".
I'm not seeing much incentive to keep up with Local or Federated here...

The terrestrial planets endured a phase of bombardment following their accretion, but the nature of this late accreted material is uncertain.
Delivery of volatile-rich material to Mars provided an exotic water inventory corresponding to a global water layer >300 meters deep, in addition to the primordial water reservoir from mantle outgassing.
This carbonaceous material may also have delivered a source of biologically relevant molecules to early Mars. https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/sciadv.abp8415

From Star Wars (1977) to Andor (2022): The Arrestor Cruiser, Cantwell-class
I wrote the story of a ship design that took more than 4 decades to go from paper to screen. It's an opportunity to pay tribute to the late Colin Cantwell. #starwars #andor
