techdirt.com/2023/07/24/more-s Ugh, the *suicide resource sites* really shouldn't be sharing sensitive data like this with Facebook.

"In some cases, filling out contact forms on the sites transmitted hashed but easily unscrambled names and email addresses to Facebook."
Very intrusive.

Social media drama (the large platforms) can be fairly time consuming and it's questionable what you really get out of it.

Bad news and drama. Yeah, I'm gonna continue to ramp it down.

Looking at social media again (although, limited in the scope in which I scan it). Yup, a whole lot of drama.

I wish there was a button to collapse threads on here. Someone dropped down 40 posts in a row.

Probably someone also posting to *Twitter*.

Judge strikes down Arizona's law which prohibits someone from filming a police officer within eight feet for being a violation of the First Amendment.

Noting that these "safeguards" are not actually safeguards.

Someone can construe plenty of things as "harmful", to attempt to, or to chill risk averse platforms (with the possibility that they might).

Either way, this infringes on the First Amendment and undermines users' free expression.

If you think about it though, Sword Art Online, the prequel to Accel World, is kind of a critique of having these random things interacting with your head.

To be fair, the bread and butter of sci-fi is to imagine what sort of things might crop up in the future.

The precise details on X are also a bit different, as X is more the management AI, than the network.

Gatchaman Crowds with "X" (a giant social network and AI) and Accel World with the brain computer interface "Neuralink".

What's next? The talking egoistical space colony in a certain space anime? Is he going to try to build Gundam? Lol.

Also ironically, there is an anime with a brain computer interface called the Neuralink. Accel World.

Might actually be less than a thousand in ten years, because each one might have multiple victims.

If you stereotype Skynet as wanting to enslave or destroy humanity, is this hate speech?

Another example was that game where there's a random event when the king has the trait "insane" where he passes a law forcing every building to have a big hole in it so the wind can pass unobstructed.

This is so bizarre and incomprehensible to me... Like that guy from North Korea wanting to police people's hairstyles.

I'm okay with Facebook releasing their LLM as "open source", although is it actually open source? It would be cool, if it were.

theintercept.com/2017/11/02/wa This is one way in which embarrassing "virtuous" policies can blow up in a platform's face.

You should never rely on these large private platforms to protect your rights.
