"Two major tech trade groups are challenging the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) effort to treat payment apps and digital wallets like banks. In a lawsuit filed in federal court in Washington, DC, NetChoice and TechNet claim that the CFPB’s digital payment regulation, announced on November 21st, 2024, is arbitrary and capricious."

I haven't looked deeply into this one, but it sounds very vague / broad. Actual child porn is treated as it is due to the depiction of an actual person (another way of putting it is that it involves actual abuse).

In related matters, Bluesky is accused of censoring images of these.

🥳THE FIRST BIG FESTIVAL OF THE YEAR🎉

After the New Year celebrations there is barely time to catch your breath before Kyōto's first big festival arrives, and this one is particularly important for businesses and those hoping for a prosperous year ahead.

The 'Tōka Ebisu Matsuri' (十日えびす祭) runs for 3 days from January 8th.

✨😇A SLICE OF PARADISE🪷🎶

Byōdō-in's (平等院) Hōō-dō (鳳凰堂 'Phoenix Hall') was completed in 1053.

Once completely surrounded by Aji-ga-ike pond, the stretch of water helped protect the building from fires in 1336 and 1483 that completely destroyed the rest of the temple.

@anchal It's impossible to speculate with these. Sometimes, you see something and think "it must be that", but then, it turns out to be something random you never thought of.

Encountering references to SDGs in places I wouldn't expect.

Facebook probably hasn't implemented the new policy changes yet, they said they were going to do it over weeks.

When it comes to free expression, Austria is probably better than Germany. Both seem to have some kind of hate speech law.

As one example, Germany had that thing going on with the media authorities where they prevented people from accessing sexual content.

When it comes to hate speech laws, there are countries with a high standard of free expression which also have an anti hate speech law (of some sort).

Someone might be wary of setting a dangerous precedent though.

Politics based on dehumanizing someone is problematic.
