@olea@mstdn.social @trixter This is a good lesson in being wary of responding to trolls. Trolls try to divert the conversation down a track where they have a (weak) excuse to say something abusive.

There were several red flags here. Brand new account. One of their first posts is complaining about the fandom. Hopping onto a random post to provoke a fight. It's a combination of these factors.

Avoid replying to them. If there is a potentially useful point to be addressed, do so in a different post.

@olea@mstdn.social @trixter Concern troll. A "fan" who ignores that many titles have some element of sexualization[1] and jumps in to provoke arguments.

1 doi.org/10.1016/j.chb.2022.107 Since the troll is probably a puritan, I suppose I'll post Dr. Ferguson's meta analysis about how sexualization in games isn't harmful.

I think that in the end, the European Commission stopped that German media authority which was going crazy censoring people while going on about "age verification".

Does Threads still have an issue with VPNs?

Some good news on the Facebook front when it comes to Threads and the fediverse. Threads has apparently ceased to block entire instances on a puritanical basis.

Not only does Mastodon have a bigger character limit, but you can theoretically use an instance with a more generous limit than that. With Bluesky, you can't.

It's interesting how there's less interest in using Egyptian mythology in stories now.

Jojo has a reference to the Book of Thoth (the manga is decades old), Yu-Gi-Oh was about a reincarnated pharaoh who plays a magical card game, and The Mummy.

Do you remember that Stargate film with the flying pyramid?

When you quickly glance at a headline about the Stargate AI thing and you think for a moment that it's about some sort of sci-fi novel / show.

While governments might play a role in censorship, a lot of it has nothing to do with them.

"AI" is in quotes because it's not intelligent.

"" is inherently unreliable. It might behave unpredictably at any point.

Unpredictable behavior is not a characteristic one wants in an agent.

Confidentiality is only one element of privacy.

Tuta is worse than Proton because if you try to be private, they will quietly disable your account and tell you that you failed to login (as if you got your password wrong).

While I'm sure Proton is secure, I don't think sending a SMS to activate an account is good for privacy?
