Request for research: I remember there was a study which had an association between anime porn and lower levels of bigotry.

Does anyone have it on hand?

I've never liked the idea of IoT, lol.

Very gimmicky (you don't know just how gimmicky they can get), insecure, and a data vacuum.

@Kyuuk It's a fairly decent instance, although it's mainly academics and techies, a few of whom seem to like anime.

The admin doesn't allow it to turn into a chan, and I'm not really seeing sexphobia, which is a plus.

The admin is okay, laidback, maybe a bit impulsive in his takes? Then again, he gets the job done. It's not an easy one.

@wststreet @Kyuuk I know of a few complaining about that before.

It kind of makes sense, someone might not want to pick between a site where plenty think that hateful rhetoric is funny and a place without proper sexual / free expression.

And if you think of plenty of conventional communities, it's not as if they let themselves turn into a chan.

Read why "Web Environment Integrity" is terrible, and why we must vocally oppose it now. Google's latest maneuver, if we don't act to stop it, threatens our freedom to explore the Internet with browsers of our choice: u.fsf.org/40a #EndDRM #Enshittification #Google #WebStandards

While we know that X lost media prior to 2014, do you know who got impacted by something similar in 2019?

MySpace.

Yes, that MySpace. It still exists :o

Maybe, I should create an instance which is free expression but without shitposteurs (you know what I mean).

But, that sounds like work, lol.

Cool to see positive interest in this post.

@Kyuuk Of course, on the fediverse, it's not unusual for someone to have something like three accounts, lol.

KOSA, uspol

I’m still so fucking embarrassed by Alex Padilla’s response to my email asking him to vote down KOSA as soon as he gets the chance. It was some mealy-mouthed garbage about “the safety of children online” that addressed exactly zero of my concerns.

I’ve been online and listening to sex workers long enough to have seen them be right about FOSTA/SESTA, which destroyed communities I was part of under the guise of “stopping trafficking” (which it actively worsened). Sex workers are raising the alarm yet again about KOSA and its false claims of “protecting children,” and it’s disgusting to see groups like HRC providing cover for a bill that’s going to wipe queer content off huge chunks of the internet.

@Kyuuk Other instances have more of a HOA vibe where they squabble over petty things and block each other because of a personal beef between admins.

I've noticed that Sakurajima and it's counterpart are run by... Bigots...? Picky bigots. That is, they're mean.

There are also the really free speech instances, but then, you have to deal with chan culture and shitposteurs.

It would be nice to have something more in the middle, free expression but, uh, leave the outright hate at the door.

Qoto is an instance for STEM (Science Technology and so on) individuals, although it's not really an anime instance per se. It does have a long character limit (65k) and quote toots.

Modern Magic Made Simple. An old, and maybe a bit obscure, where you can cast magic spells by writing computer programs.

Some new form of masochism...? Lol.

-looks through comments on video- This is, this is, is this just a silly thought or someone who purposefully wrote a title for a manga/anime?
