I should probably use hiragana here, however, someone might read it who doesn't know that.

Higanbana no Saku Yoru ni (彼岸花の咲く夜に / "On the Night the Red Spider Lily Blooms") is probably better than Ciconia (and made by the same people to boot).

From what I remember, it's pretty short though.

Two easy characters to remember here, lol. 夜 means night and 花 means flower.

I will probably never watch this but that is an interesting idea.

A post about Hellsing, huh. That was a good anime.

Dr. Ferguson argues here for better mental health care and nuance rather than just throwing minors in prison for making threats.

"Obviously, the most worrying are those who seriously intend to carry out the threat.

Individuals who commit serious incidents of school violence may have chronic mental health problems, come from difficult homes, have a history of anger problems, and see themselves as victimized by others.

These are just general findings—not a definitive “profile.” Just as many people who fit this pattern never commit acts of violence, it’s important not to dismiss a threat because someone doesn’t fit this profile."
He has a point. He wants to prioritize mental health care and a supportive environment rather than just locking people up.

I question the point on mental hospitals (which isn't intended for the majority of cases).

They trend towards being prisons by another name and with far fewer processes for due process and human rights. With a prison, there is a process, and someone serves x amount of time, and then, they're out.

Also, we tend not to pretend that it isn't a situation where someone has a lot of power over others, and that can commonly be abused / misused.

It sounds really easy to say "just fix this", but it never really is that easy, as these tend to be very fundamental issues.

"for every study maligning porn, another clears its name"
That is because it is (or was) subject to the scientific bandwagon effect where someone felt compelled to look for all kinds of "links" to "bad things".

And then, someone else has to come in with a better methodology to correct that.

Apparently, there is an upcoming paper which goes into how antagonistic narcissists might blame the problems in their lives on porn (rather than taking responsibility for being jerks to their partners).

So, that's going to be an interesting read.

This week the UK Electoral Commission revealed that the electoral roll was hacked two years ago.

Emails, identifying information and addresses have been at the mercy of cybercriminals.

ORG's @marianods explains why this is so concerning for people who have opted out of the open register.
