While in security, we have more concrete ideas of how it might be a threat (and how to mitigate that), if it were ever to be a practical tool, in this case, it is purely aimless speculation.

This is a technology which is virtually non-existent. What does exist exists in the form of multi-million dollar machines, cooled to near absolute zero. These only manipulate about a dozen "qubits" (it is cheaper / easier to just engage in more conventional computing for the same tasks).

As a cherry on top, a British think of the children org went as far as to speculate over whether quantum computing might be a "threat" in the future (such as in "making uploading easier").

When I hear of Singapore's government banning films because they paint the government in a bad light, and executing people for smuggling drugs (also known for banning chewing gum and being a boring place), this doesn't sound like a particularly nice country.

"I was in Singapore for a day, it was nice there."
Someone said this to me in response to one of my critiques. That is probably not long enough to encounter the problems with Singapore, especially if there for business or something.

This is looking an awful lot like other tech firms. Ad powered. VC funded / backed. Operated out of Silicon Valley. Hype bubble. Centralized.

If this isn't what you were expecting (and it is what I was expecting), then you've been sucked in by the marketing lingo.

Looks like Bluesky is already planning on implementing ads.

lol, Russia’s federal censor has blocked the Naruto fan website jut-su in its latest (and perhaps most pointless to date) assault on the country’s villainous anime culture vk.com/wall-34269876_1741877?r

Screaming about the potential for "AI" to become sentient is like screaming about the potential for mole people to come out of the ground in tanks because someone saw it in a film once.

Someone saying that "AI" is going to become sentient is always a red flag.

Automated enforcement against piracy is already pretty bad (false positives).

Millions of voices screamed in terror before being suddenly suspended for violating a policy no one has ever even heard of.

I cover civil liberties issues from all over the world.

I imagine that with anime and piracy, accessibility is an issue. It's not that easy to get every title, especially through one avenue. There is the localization / censorship issue too (which has gotten better).

A few seem confused by Taro Yamada's (in Japan, the family name comes first) use of the term "child pornography", someone already pointed out it refers to real children, not a fictional character.

It created the post but it doesn't seem to have bothered federating the post anywhere so I had to recreate it. Unfortunately, after this instance was upgraded, it's had quite a few 500s (and in this case, a weird bug).
