While it might be useful to keep track of how far someone has read in a thread, so as to allow them to pick up where they left off, I don't think there is a good reason for storing every post someone has read, and especially, not how much time they've spent reading each and every one.

#Discourse (a piece of software used to run online forums) appears to not only track what posts someone views, they track the amount of time they spend viewing them. This doesn't sound good for #privacy?
The UI / UX is fairly similar to NodeBB which we've seen around.

Privacy experts from multiple civil rights groups told Forbes they think the orders are unconstitutional because they threaten to turn innocent YouTube viewers into criminal suspects."

A little birdie (well, quite a few people are complaining about this) tells me #PayPal has gone ultra puritan in recent weeks. That is obviously really problematic.
Could payment processors (and other platforms for that matter) please think about the negative consequences which being so wilful has on people whose livelihoods rely on you? Or people who are hit by waves of uncertainty and injustice which stem from you?

"Two lawsuits filed this week accuse Michigan sheriff's offices of colluding with large prison telecom companies to end face-to-face jail visitations and then price gouge families who are forced to rely on expensive phone calls and video chats, in return for major kickbacks."
"the visitation bans deprive children of the ability to hug their incarcerated parents"
"However, criminal justice advocates and civil rights groups say these practices are also reducing one of the most effective and widely agreed upon ways to improve outcomes for incarcerated people: regular family contact.
And it's imposing significant costs on families."

"The U.S. Department of Transportation announced its first industry-wide review of data security and privacy policies across the largest U.S. airlines.
The DOT said in a press release Thursday that the review will examine whether U.S. airline giants are properly protecting their customers’ personal information and whether airlines are “unfairly or deceptively monetizing or sharing that data with third parties.”"

But the ruling of an administrative court made it clear that making the CCTV system data available is in the public’s interest, not just because the system was paid for with public funds but also because the citizen have the right to know where and how the municipality is surveilling them."

"The case, NRA v. Vullo, brought by the National Rifle Association (NRA) against a New York official and alleging freedom of speech violations, has reached the Supreme Court of the US (SCOTUS) and, overall, the justices appeared overall sympathetic toward NRA’s claims.
The respondent to the NRA’s petition to allow the lawsuit to proceed, former New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) Superintendent Maria Vullo, is accused of influencing banks and insurance firms to drop the NRA."
