Automated enforcement against piracy is already pretty bad (false positives).

Millions of voices screamed in terror before being suddenly suspended for violating a policy no one has ever even heard of.

I cover civil liberties issues from all over the world.

I imagine that with anime and piracy, accessibility is an issue. It's not that easy to get every title, especially through one avenue. There is the localization / censorship issue too (which has gotten better).

A few seem confused by Taro Yamada's (in Japan, the family name comes first) use of the term "child pornography", someone already pointed out it refers to real children, not a fictional character.

It created the post but it doesn't seem to have bothered federating the post anywhere so I had to recreate it. Unfortunately, after this instance was upgraded, it's had quite a few 500s (and in this case, a weird bug).

Let's try this again as it seems to be bugging out.

Okay, posting it again with better wording (for social media).

itmedia.co.jp/news/articles/24 Visa reaffirms their position when quizzed by lawmaker on statement made by rep (financial censorship issue).

I'm seeing the statement circulating without this particular context, so I'm posting this again (with tags this time).

Despite the 500s, a couple of duplicate posts got through, I'll delete those.

Four 500s before that post went through.

"Riot Games is wholly owned by Chinese media giant Tencent, which unfortunately implies that any representation in Arcane was cynically added to extract profit from western audiences"
Speculating like this undermines what might otherwise be an informative article (about censorship) with potential cover for censorship. Governmental censorship is censorship.

Bluesky seems to be one of those firms which leans on being a "start-up" (despite having a large userbase) to go crazy censoring without scrutiny from civil society (which other firms pay somewhat more lip service to).

Looking at Bluesky, users seem to consistently avoid particular words to avoid over-zealous censorship.
