Mario. Who will win. An Italian plumber or a guy with a big shell on his back.

Mario. A story about an Italian plumber who snorts a lot of mushrooms and runs through the sewers. Lol.

When you hear the name Jesse, and the one from Pokémon comes to mind.

There's an issue which I've been discussing for a while now with Big Tech platforms where free speech discourse turns into discussions over this high profile user or that high profile user.

Meanwhile, there are countless other people being censored.

It is annoying how Jesse is being treated as *the* free speech issue, when Bluesky was being super puritanical not that long ago.

Jesse. Who would have thought I'd hear that name again.

I can't say I'm surprised by Jesse's presence. They probably want to be a town square.

Excuse me if that is a bit snappy, it's honestly boring looking at that site and seeing the *same very reaching bad take* ignoring the obvious alternate explanations.

If you are confused as to why there are a few posts prior to it, I changed the wording a bit and reposted it.

"planned monetization features for creators"
Speaking as a commentator on financial censorship issues, it'd be absolutely insane to use Bluesky as a creator platform, especially with the extreme puritanical censorship we have heard about. Strong recommendation against.

I'm taking the time to warn people now about Bluesky because I don't want anyone to sign up for it and to encounter a nasty surprise later on. It's a company which doesn't seem to respect the work that creators do.

With a few of these companies, they weren't always so bad, they got worse later. In this case, it's far clearer where it seems to be going, and it's not a place you'd want to go.

While I think other companies should improve, and better protect the freedom of expression of their users, I have no confidence this company won't do something bizarre and incoherent for some strange reason.

Show thread

Even though there are other companies which are weird and censorious, I haven't heard about as much wacky nonsense with them as I have heard of over the past week about Bluesky's moderation team.

Apparently, there are even inexplicable anti-furry posts.

I encountered a weird bug so I posted this again instead of boosting it.

protectthestack.org Protect The Stack is important reading for infrastructure issues.

I'll keep my other thread in more general terms though, because I'd like to avoid making assumptions on specifics here.

Even innocuous language, that is written without regard for practical implementation could be over-read.
