I still don't see you on vulpine.club. Not certain what that's about.

@chip_unicorn

That's an immense server ban list at `vulpine.club`. Since it is all silent it sort of flies in the face of what folks are expecting as the promise of open federation.

I chose `qoto.org` because of the generic science/tech topic and the large number of subscribers. I suppose there's another I could find that is not currently banned by `vulpine`, although this may be like chasing rainbows.

Is there a conflict over site policies? There's no information.

I now get to test the statement that migration to a different server is effortless.

@chip_unicorn

Here is what qoto.org says about itself,

qoto.org/about/more#message-to

On the surface, I don't find anything objectionable. Still looking to see how easy migration is.

@chip_unicorn

Here's an useful and/or scary description of how to move around somewhat.

docs.joinmastodon.org/user/mov

You might try redirecting (and I will once moved), but of course redirects to `vulpine.club` might be ineffective because of the banning.

I also learned there are many levels of control short of banning an entire server. Silencing is preferable in fact, if done at all.

So we find ourselves in a world of self-imposed silos for whatever reason. We all get to decide how we communicate and with whom our willing respondents are. Having it done at the platform level seems worrisome. And not knowing that may be the case on chosing a platform/server is even more troublesome.

I will probably tweet about this - LOL

@orcmid It has many trans folk. Birdspot has had "discussions" of trans rights without asking trans folk. (I know you and hubby support trans rights.)
