"On Saturday, “Sinners” will pass 1984’s “Beverly Hills Cop” ($234 million) to become the 12th-highest-grossing R-rated domestic release of all-time. The three-day frame should end with it north of $240 million. There hasn’t been a bigger original live-action film in North America since Alfonso Cuarón’s 2013 survival thriller “Gravity” finished with $274 million."
It's been *12 years* since there's been such a high-grossing original live-action film?!
@dtgeek Everybody aims for PG-13 at any cost, and shapes things to play well in China too, so I believe it. I’m so glad Coogler resisted both impulses, making a completely American film for adults.
Sinners deserves every dollar it earns, and every record it sets.
