I asked my #Twitter followers who don't used Mastodon why they don't. Difficulty is by far the leading answer.
Obviously my sample is non-representative, but I would guess that a lot of people feel like Mastodon is too hard to figure out.

@mattsheffield just found out the fediverse doesn't show all the replies to a toot. that's dumb and hardly useful for a twitter replacement. at least on my server i see 0 comments on most post. just about to give up. they don't use mastodon bc it doesn't serve the function you get with twitter. quick, massive amounts of information dissemination. and yes, that unfortunately comes with nazis and such
