Two thoughts on this:
1. Journalists are going to be reporting the hell out of all of this, especially because Twitter is such a leaky ship rn (look at the sourcing)
2. Feels like we are due for some reporting on what the deal is with new T&S head Ella Irwin

John Muir is hailed as an environmental hero. He wrote & advocated to protect the “wilderness,” including Yosemite. But the land, Ahwahnee, was already named & loved by the Ahwahneechee people.
Muir wasn’t interested in the original inhabitants. He was a pioneer in the environmental movement, but he was also racist & friends with prominent eugenicists. His complicated legacy is just one of many examples in American #history when environmental protections were at odds with environmental justice.
Did you know Monopoly was invented by a woman named Elizabeth Magie in 1903?
Originally ‘The Landlord’s Game,’ it was designed as a protest against the big monopolists of her time like Carnegie & Rockefeller.
But it was Charles Darrow, an unemployed salesman, who eventually sold it to Parker Brothers after playing a version.
Parker Brothers credited Monopoly with saving their company. Magie died in 1948 without recognition. Darrow became very wealthy & his legend lives on. #history #women
Cute, right? But you’re looking at the fiercest predator in the ocean: The mantis shrimp.
While not technically a mantis or shrimp, this little crustacean evolved 400M years ago to have the fastest punch on Earth and some of the most complex eyes in the animal kingdom featuring 12 photoreceptors. (We have 3).
Most formidable, the mantis shrimp has a strike force powerful enough to instantly dismember prey… or smash through the glass in an aquarium.

"Twitter’s former head of trust and safety has fled his home due to an escalation in threats resulting from Elon Musk’s campaign of criticism against him, a person familiar with the matter told CNN on Monday." #news https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/12/tech/twitter-files-yoel-roth/index.html
here's a fun bit of trivia: more Mastodon posts were clustered to Techmeme's top stories tonight than ever before https://www.techmeme.com/221216/h0050
