The first three years of undergrad were a breeze for me! But the last? Classwork plus research plus applications plus my jobs? I spiraled into what I now know was ADHD burnout, depressed to admit I was drinking obscene amounts of caffeine every morning then alcohol to fall asleep. 100+ hours of tasks a week, many sleepless nights.
For the first time in my life I missed deadlines, but had no formal diagnosis or reason. My profs could’ve failed me, but instead supported me, now I’m a biologist!!
My lab at the University at Buffalo is hiring a postdoc -- communication scholars or social psychologists (or individuals in related fields) with an interest in quantitative/experimental studies of narrative impact are invited to apply!

Please apply by December 10 for full consideration:
Hi to the #cancer research community on Mastodon!
NCI has just published two new funding opportunities to support mechanistic studies into links between diet, lipid #metabolism and tumor growth & progression! First due date is 2/17/23; review will be organized and managed by NCI.
Read more about the U01 opportunity here: dlvr.it/SdBvSF
and about the parallel exploratory/developmental UH2, which limits unpublished preliminary data to 1/2 page, here: dlvr.it/SdBvMJ
This story with Tracy Chou, an engineer who specifically works on creating tools to stifle organised harassment online, getting kicked off of mastodon.social because of "reverse sexism/racism," is maddeningly infuriating.
We know that Mastodon's flagship instances have been having issues with moderation for a while, but this seems to point that the trend has gone from "ineffective absent moderators" to "moderators protecting the feelings of white men," which I think will backfire. It also validates every criticism the fediverse receives for being a bastion of tepid, neoliberal, racism-as-reflex whiteness.

To echo Tracy Chou's bannable offense: I also heavily recommend reading more books by non men, by non white people, and by non cisheterosexual people. What a violent ideology! Tabarnouche.
