#introduction I am a neuroscientist interested in how sensory pathways shape motor behavior and adaptation. I use mouse genetic approaches to dissect how sensory and motor circuits interface in the spinal cord for the fluid execution of innate and goal-oriented tasks. Started my research group last year at the University of Cologne. Occasional posts about food item below Italian standards, e.g. pizza Hawaii.

POSTDOC alert: We're looking for a postdoctoral scientist to join our lab at Dartmouth! We study the neural basis of perception, memory, and neurodiversity using fMRI + VR.

@EubieDrew @MrsDi @freemo I’d like to contribute to your furry tip-jar, Dr Freemo, so here’s my dog Bagel sporting an autumn hat…

Did you know that *every one* of the millions of #iNaturalist observations gets looked at by a volunteer identifier before it can reach "research grade", and get shared with the international biodiversity database #GBIF? Here's a new science paper listing some of the many important reasons why it's good for everyone with some taxonomic expertise, including scientists, to be identifiers on #iNaturalist. (I'm one of the many authors.) doi.org/10.1371/journal.pbio.3 #biodiversity #taxonomy #CitizenScience

@NurseMich @phdstudents @phdlife I’ve done a handful of qualitative studies over the years. I’m no expert but can find my way around so I’m happy to help with any questions 😊

Efficiency: Funding for two 5-week rotations in fall quarter available. Direct admission to labs also an option on mutual agreement by mentor and trainee. @GGIPstudents gets you into labs quickly so you can begin work on your . Average time to degree is 4.5 years.

My 6 year old has wanted to be a tattoo artist since she was 3.

Most people she tells laugh.

I guess because they’re expecting her to say doctor, firefighter or ballerina?

All I know is any job that can pay the bills and make her feel happy/fulfilled, I am 💯 in support of.

My most recent paper can be found here (open access): onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/ep
We found that increasing #temperature and vapor pressure deficit (#VPD) lead to hydraulic damages in the absence of soil drought - particularly in trees from moist ecosystems (e.g. beech!)

I was excited to come back to Mastodon, to reconnect with some old faces and newcomers. And tbh, still excited. My original acct eventually grew dark because it was Very White; all the PoC had left. Three guesses why.

I'm seeing a lot of new Black and Brown faces and I am thrilled to see it. And I am saddened that we're *still* dealing with white fragility. But I'm not surprised. It's like clockwork, really.

I am going to take up space with ya. Y'all tag me in when you need me. #BlackMastodon

If it’s not stated already, I’ll just put this out into the mastodon sphere -
➡️ we should care about long COVID and do more to investigate it
➡️ I support masking. Like. A lot. And vaccinations.
➡️ best way to protect yourself is not get infected in the first place
➡️ good public health puts equity as the core mission
➡️ COVID is serious and still ongoing
