Well, I’m slowly getting a little more confident and paddling out deeper into the Mastosphere. Trousers now rolled up to the knees and the water not feeling as cold…

Here's what nobody explains about the UK's trade deal with NZ: stuff we sell to NZ was already almost tariff-free. Eliminating all remaining tariffs saves only £27 million a year.

But NZ sells lots of agricultural products, and the UK has hefty tariffs on those to protect our market.

Or rather the UK used to. But not any more.

As a result of the trade deal, NZ farmers will be able to send unlimited goods tariff-free after a phase-in period.

And the Tories gave away much more than the EU did.

The moment a statue of Hestia was discovered in 2017 in the ruins of Aigai in Turkey.

Today's card from the Druid Craft Tarot deck is .. randomly.. the Two of Pentacles.
A woman stands at a cliff edge juggling, with a shipwreck in the background.
If this card comes up in a reading it's about not trying to do too much at once and focus upon what is important.
If this comes up in the Thoughts/ Decisions row it can mean don't try to solve everything at once. Choose one thing.
If it appears in the Feelings/ Emotions row it can mean you are spreading yourself too thin with those you know. Devote time to the one who needs it most or you need most.
If this appears in the Physical and Material world row it can mean stop with all the projects or hobbies. Pick one for a while.
(You might interpret this differently)

The decentralized nature of this place is really cool. I'm followed by award winning university historians. I'm also followed by Finnish metalheads. Something for everyone!

In addition to fantasy I have occasionally played in 1920s-50s Horror LARP. Think H.P. Lovecraft meets Jeeves and Wooster.
Here I am in the role of a butler at a stately home in Devon, England.

Ooh, another bandwagon! And a LARP one this time. Here is me playing Ellen Terry in a LARP set in 1895 (or thereabouts)

UK Politics

You've got until the morning to revel in your Gavin Williamson-related schadenfreude (Gavinfreude?), but then we need to turn our attention back to the far-right zealot in the Home Office I'm afraid

And, indeed, whatever came of those named day questions put in by Labour about ministerial use of private emails across Government. The replies are already overdue ...👀mirror.co.uk/news/politics/lab

When I do readings I far prefer a 3×3 grid layout/spread.
The top row represents Thoughts & Decisions.
The middle row represents Feelings & Emotions.
The bottom row represents the Physical & Material world. This includes money, possessions and home.
The leftmost/first column is the past, as it pertains to the future.
The middle column is the near future.
The right hand column is the further future. Depending on when I am doing the reading this may be a few months or the next year.
The first card I turn over is always the centre card. This is the focus of the story I am to tell and other cards will be interpreted in relation to it.
If a reading leads me to a story with an unclear path I may draw a tenth card for clarity.
My cards are kept wrapped in a silk cloth. Some tarot practitioners believe this protects them from outside influence.. it certainly helps protect the cards and provides a clean surface on which to do a reading.
I have mentioned before that I am an atheist, but see tarot as a psychological tool. Readings can help people make up their minds about things they were previously indecisive about, comfort them that some troubles are transitory or that change need not be feared.

I did say I would do this.
I love cards. My favourite deck is the Druid Craft Tarot.
Caveat: My interpretations may not be the same as those in books or by others. I will do another post about my preferred spread and how I use it. I don't do reverse readings.
Pulled out at random. I plan to continue this in future.
The Ten of Pentacles
An old man sits comfortably, surrounded by his family. He can relax as others do things around him.
When I draw this card in a reading it is a time to relax and enjoy what you have in life, even if it isn't much. Let others take the lead for once.
If in the Thoughts/Decisions row then let others make decisions, and only offer advice if asked.
If in the Feelings/Emotions row, then now is a time to enjoy the friendships and relationships you have in life. Not a time to make an effort to meet new people.
If in the Physical/Material World row, then now is not a time to splash out. Enjoy what you have already.

Our two pugs, Penny (the faun) and Spencer. Spencer lost an eye about 3 years ago in a nasty accident but has coped fine since. Penny is 4 and Spencer 5.

A system that doesn't address the needs for climate justice and securing human rights is a system that has failed everyone – we need to keep both in mind.
Human rights and climate movements are stronger when we stand in solidarity together. Then we can also successfully push those in power to live up to significantly increased adaptation finance and immediately, drastically reduced greenhouse gas emissions. There is no climate justice without social justice and human rights.
