Hello everyone!
An #introduction: I'm an educator specializing in computational neuroscience and neuroAI. Specifically, I'm in charge of education for the new Kempner Institute and a lecturer at Harvard. I also serve as executive director of Neuromatch Academy 🌍
I care a lot about making computational topics open and accessible to everyone and love thinking about and sharing engaging tutorials, examples, visualizations, etc.
I'm excited to be here 😀
Breaking science news: scientists have successfully achieved nuclear feline fission: splitting 1 catom in 2!

Now that I'm moved to neuromatch.social, a new #introduction.
I’m a professor at UPenn who studies memory. I work at the nexus of brain research and computation. I’m also writing a book: When it comes to understanding the brain, what are we trying to achieve? What’s our plan to get there? What challenges do we face?
Writing has deepened my appreciation for community-based progress. I'm excited to be here to participate in, and benefit from, collective intelligence.
I'm also committed to restraining myself from the power of 10K characters. But I will Edit - that is the superpower that we all deserve.

Nothing starts a day off better than looking through some photographs of #TinyFish. Here's my favorite fish species on the planet, the Lantana pygmygoby Trimma lantana #Fish #TeamFish #Biodiversity #Nature
Friends and colleagues: I appreciate you all deeply. And I agree- GPTchat does seem like a wild gamechanger. But I'm afraid I will not be reading the posted pages and pages (and pages) of text arising from your clever prompts and assignment questions.
I already have unscalable mountains of peer review assignments and grading to keep me warm at night.
(Pictures of dogs still welcome.)
@lucialayr Thank you!
Hi there! I am Diego, I run www.sci-flies.com I am a Drosophila scientist interested in science communication. I do drawings, too. I'll be posting here. #introductions #drosophila
First edition prints of my first #linocut block print. I used water based inks from a beginner's print kit from Speedball. I'm still learning how to get complete ink coverage, especially for the black areas.
New server #introduction:
I'm a Group Leader at #HHMI #Janelia working at the intersections of #ComputerVision, #MachineLearning, #Neuroscience & #Ethology. I use #CV & #ML to gain insight into biology. I love algorithms (both computer & biological) & trying to understand how, when & why they work. But really I'm an engineer & want to solve problems however! I also want to make science diverse & inclusive.
Outside work, I like sunshine, outdoors, #climbing & #crosswords.

@NicoleCRust @MPINB Thanks Nicole! I did consult my local photon expert :-)
A popular activities for crows in autumn is to open walnuts.
They let the nuts fall from great heights or let cars run over them, and then enjoy their meal. Very often crows will also hide their nuts in food caches, they place fallen leaves or grasses over the nuts, careful not to be watched.

How can we see what neurons deep in the cortex are doing during behavior? Now all cortical layers of a freely moving mouse can be imaged – even in lit environment.
