So, I have a handful of Raspberry Pi devices but nothing past the first gen Pi 3. I have run just about every OS and use case on the Pi but a lightweight (although LAMP stack driven) Social Networking service is not something I thought existed. Today I found this and I am going to try it later after I wake up.

This seems like an odd statement to post on Mastodon?

Mastodon isn't as light-weight as I'd like (we're working on it!) but you can definitely run it on the latest generation raspberry pi.

Pleroma is Mastodon-compatible and is even lighter—and explicitly targets the pi

@codesections I suppose you are right about that. I was always under the impression that Ruby was slower than PHP.

@mollusk @codesections When devotees are fighting for the honour of their favourite language, they come out about equal:

benchmarksgame-team.pages.debi

It's all about the algorithms and features implemented and how much effort is put into optimizing.

@ssokolow @codesections I wonder if someone has tried to measure what interpreted language is the most optimized.

Follow

@mollusk @codesections Almost certainly JavaScript, given the ridiculous amount of effort poured into it and the results that show up in The Benchmarks Game.
