(what they actually did in their experiment was basically computational [learning machine] using Google Sycamore processor "to construct a sparsified SYK model that we (they) experimentally realize with 164 two-qubit gates on a nine-qubit circuit and observe the corresponding traversable wormhole dynamics...", certainly did not create a real physical wormhole in the lab nevertheless, their study could be important as demonstration of how to study some highly speculative aspects in quantum gravity using highly approximate models i must also point out a bad science journalism in hyping that a real physical wormhole "has been created in a quantum chip! via the supposed observed teleportation" it is not the case as i understand no wormhole created)

if i'm not mistaken in my recollection, there was this science program on bbc it was advertised along this song

time to get some highly educational inputs from this article (as an aside i would like to point out that science in general and physics in particular are making such significant strides who knows in the future the seemingly fictional are indeed true

and this sci-fi movie back then were they already using quantum processors? Doug outsmarted the smartest people in the technical team able to discover that they were using an advanced technology kept secret from him at first

(here's their paper, the words "learning techniques" must be emphasized to make clear of things)

Here we use learning techniques to construct a sparsified SYK model that we experimentally realize with 164 two-qubit gates on a nine-qubit circuit and observe the corresponding traversable wormhole dynamics.
