You don't have to be racist to participate in systemic racism. US policing produces racist outcomes even from "not-racist" people. I'm going to explain (again):
* why I've probably been pulled over way more times than most people you know, even though most of the times I'm pulled over, I get no ticket (because I did nothing wrong)
* how I stopped getting pulled over so much (because I understand the system)
* And why lots of cops say that the average voter is more racist than the average cop
I guess what I'm most curious about in the Leopard-2 nonsense is whether the current German position is:
a) Clearly understood in Germany;
b) Playing well there politically.
Externally it's obviously neither - a garbled incoherent mess. All politics is local however and if it's playing well domestically it's at least understandable if not ethically justifiable... but is it?
I was there was the original OGL was created. I know first hand how hard those drafting it tried to sincerely make it so that it would last forever and would never screw over anyone that used it. So when we decided to create a Cypher System open license with the same goals, of course we used the OGL as a model. And now after two days of potential WotC shenanigans, people are looking at our open license as though it's dodgy. Sigh.
