I never pick my cats up. Instead, I use kissess. The sound of my lips are the signal I use to talk with my cat. If I simple do the sound, It gets the attention of Her/Him.
This way I don't need to vocal words that they don't understand, and no one is able to call them, just me. Is very safe to have a visit who can't interact with my animal using voice. The visit doesn't know the password to access the cat. I'm very concerned about people who doesn't like cats. or who treat cats like dogs.
