The real story behind all those UFOs the Air Force was shooting down last week is quite embarrassing.
I’m guessing someone at NORAD has now figured out why the sensitivity settings on the radar was turned down in the first place.
@carnage4life presumably this club of childish men doesn’t want to admit their embarrassment over a pointless hobby causing so much concern.
I await the FAA closing this ridiculous regulatory loophole and scolding these immature oddballs.
@Roblisenko @carnage4life Scolding for what? They didn't break any aviation rules... Thousands of weather probes are sent up every day around the world, and they are just as uncontrolled as the science fair projects are.
@Roblisenko @carnage4life Or maybe things will quiet down, the USAF will remember that there are thousands of legit weather balloons launched every day and the radar speed gates were there for a reason, and they will develop a reasonable way to check for the actual spy balloons instead of going to war with the weather service and high school kids.
@werner58 @carnage4life Maybe, I’d prefer they err on the side of caution and at a minimum require anyone launching a balloon the sizes of the ones shot down to provide a GPS tracker they submit to and get authorization from the FAA.
Maybe new regulations well help these people with the weather pondering the wise words of Ben Franklin, or perhaps it was Steve Jobs who once said;

@werner58 @carnage4life Because they’re no consequences. 1000s of people would do reckless things that impact others every day, the aviation rules need to be updated for 21st century geopolitical threats. These guys need a Time Machine if they want to pretend it’s still 1890.
