Help, new guy at work tries to push docker for development environment.

@hj docker is really comfy for use on my home server, for what reasons do you not want to use it in your situation?

@wmarshall feels like an over-engineered solution for trivial problem (pitched as "same env for all devs"), I don't really want to learn docker to deal with it when it breaks nor when I need to do something weird with env.

@hj @wmarshall docker is bit silly, but i think the general container idea (which are just kernel namespaces like “true” unixes used to have since forever) are ok

@hj @wmarshall it's better than nothing, but a lot of things are better than nothing. I use Ansible, which has a bigger learning curve.
@hj @wmarshall the developer should not necessarily be responsible for building the docker image, the developer should just pull it and immediately have a working, perfect development environment in a container (or VM, if on windows.)

I wish we did that here, we have horrendous instructions for each project for creating the development environment.
