I wrote up my proposal for news organizations (and others) to provide trustable, verifiable accounts (as much as we can, in society) for staff:
News/media organizations would stand up a Mastodon instance for staff-only, for example follow.washingtonpost.com (doesn't exist! Only an example!)
follow.washingtonpost.com inherits the trust of its parent washingtonpost.com domain. Accounts from that instance are trustable, no public signups.

First news organization to stand up its federated Mastodon server with a trustable domain (e.g. http://follow.washingtonpost.com) and accounts for its staff for people to follow gets a prize.
Also, proposal for a standardized domain for news orgs, e.g. follow.bbcnews.com, follow.nytimes.com, and/or autodiscovery of a mastodon server for a parent domain e.g. a socialnetworks.txt

Twitter is optimized for producers and consumers.
The problem with /s is that it takes all the fun out of guessing.
My advice to young people is to have as many niche social media accounts as possible so you get radicalized in different directions.
Pretending to be Twitter verified on Mastodon isn’t cute.

Hi friends, I'm Josh. I'm a software engineer and Ruby developer at heart. I love open source and the open web and currently build tools for developers at a company that I cofounded. I love books and consider myself a lifelong learner. At this moment, I'm particularly concerned about information literacy, online disinformation and conspiracy theories, and violent extremism. I'm actively studying and exploring constructive solutions to those issues in my spare time.
My favorite things are books, computers, photography, and musical instruments (piano and bass mainly). My favorite people are my family, friends, colleagues, and you (you there, behind the screen).
