@rothgar @chabicht @FranckLeroy Is it much compared to already existing systems? Yes, quite a lot more, actually

Also, I don't see what people buying sneakers or wine has to do with a comparison of the power consumption of bitcoin vs. "traditional" banks.

The value that the blockchain and cryptocurrencies provide is not necessarily in the form of a physical product or service, but rather in the security, transparency, and efficiency of the transactions they enable. For example, the use of cryptocurrencies can make it easier and more secure for people to send and receive payments, particularly in countries where the traditional financial system is less developed or reliable. Cryptocurrencies can also provide a way for people to store and transfer value without the need for a bank or other financial intermediary, which can be especially useful in situations where access to traditional financial services is limited. Additionally, the blockchain can be used to create and track the ownership of assets, such as real estate or works of art, in a more secure and transparent way.
@zombrex2311 @LizardSF @sunnjek -@rothgar @chabicht @FranckLeroy Not a day goes by that some crypto-bro complains he was hacked & his assets stolen. Is there value in watching your assets fly from wallet to wallet but be unable to ever get them back? Without changing the model to include verifiable ownership at every transaction (req’d), I find it utterly useless & wasteful.

That's the long debunked boilerplate (I suspect an AI wrote it -- no human would just parrot that and think they were making a point). Going through it point-by-point to show WHY is a waste of time. It's like arguing w/creationists, anti-vaxxers, or flat earthers. The claims have been decimated time and again. The only people posting these rote claims are con artists seeking suckers, and even they don't believe them.
