@izaya only things good about Bourne shell are that it's everywhere and basic scripting of the "run this then run that" variety is simple. even process control beyond that is kinda wonky. maybe I'm just a dummy, but I basically relearn how to properly trap signals and kill child processes every time I write a nontrivial bash script.
