Why there is so much panic around #Musk owning #Twitter?

I see no changes here, except for numbers — a month ago several rich people were owning Twitter, and now there is only a single person left. You didn't know the names of previous people, but you liked them, now you know the name and you don't like him.

More of that, he didn't do a thing yet — neither good nor bad.

There were a lot of reasons not to use Twitter before, but they're still in place. Is Musk the only reason then?

@neonkaaa one reason that I had to have explained to me is his proclamations about so-called "free speech" translates, probably fairly, to harassment in a lot of women's minds on public social media which they might fear wouldn't be handled as well under Musk's leadership. i have no idea how well it's handled now. perhaps it's just about the tone he sets that emboldens trolls on the platform

then, I guess, to some it's just like "here's a change...I don't know what's going to happen, but it's leaning towards more shitty... let's see what else is out there"

@2ck
Let me please shorten it. One reason is "Musk is possibly lying and there will be no free speech". Is that correct? If so maybe there is a proof for this statement?

Because there was such a positive mood concerning his electric cars, hyperloop, rockets, and the Internet. And there is such a negative mood concerning him buying Twitter. Or maybe it's just my informational bubble.

@neonkaaa I don't know what you're shortening. the point is that a lot of "free speech" rhetoric regarding social media is not really about free speech, but it's about certain people wanting a megaphone for whatever they want to say, without negative consequences, even when what they say arguably violates the terms of service on the platform. maybe it's beating a dead horse to say, but Twitter isn't a state organ and has no power to restrict your speech--it's a service you can use for purposes that Twitter and it's officers/employees allow, but (as has very obviously happened) folks who don't like the restrictions of the service can go elsewhere and still say whatever they want within the bounds of the law.

With regard to Musk himself, people tend to point to him baselessly accusing that one diver of being a pedophile. There's also the criticism of working conditions and how harassment has been handled at his other company Tesla. There's other stuff that I won't bring up because I'm even less familiar with the facts of the matter...
