How and why the fuck are we still at having to get people to understand that eugenics is bad? What the actual fuck is wrong with people?
Listen very carefully to me right now: Eugenics is bad, "erasing" or "fixing" "disability" almost only ever means erasing disabled PEOPLE, there's no such thing as "general intelligence" which is fine because belief in it an *all* intelligence measurement is *also* eugenicist, and none of this is "abstract" "debate" it is all literal life-and-death shit.
This shit is tied to everything from laws about who should and shouldn't be allowed to have and raise families, to who should and shouldn't be visible in our public lives, and it touches on not just disability but everything including race and gender and sexuality and body size and socioeconomic class.
Eugenics is not just some "quaint" "quirky" idea from the 1800's or some deeply disgusting shit we defeated forever in the 1940's; it is real, it is present, and it undergirds the shape and direction of 21st century thinking and technological development at a VERY DEEP LEVEL.
And if we aren't far more careful far more quickly we're going to find ourselves in a world where the very nasty mask-off version of things has whole categories of people being wiped out or left to die, "for the greater good," which is what eugenics demands because Eugenics. Is BAD.

As early as 1980 Stephen J Gould was exposing the history of Scientific Racism in his popular book "The Mismeasure of Man" which included the specific take down of "Spearman's g" or the reification of "general intelligence".
Admittedly I didn't know that the second wave eugenics movement of the #TESCREAL ideologies which promote AI was eugenics but they had new hats and promised me space adventure. :(
